Billy Birch

South have been able to bring in excellent experience to further improve the back room staff at the club. Billy Birch has now officially joined the club management team and we are extremely pleased that he has agreed to join South.  

Bill is a well known football man for many a year he was at Old Xaverians FC as well as being a local referee. He joined South for his initial game out at a misty Birchfield where the first team secured a 3-1 away win.

Less well known though is that he is an ex South man, having been our youth team keeper back in 1972-73 under managers, Joby Humphries & Les Parkes. Vauxhall Motors chairman, Alan Bartlam, being our team secretary. South finished league runners up (by one point!) in the Liverpool Sunday League Youth Division and that was set alongside our first of two Lancashire FA Youth Cup wins and we do have the programmes to prove his appearances between the sticks.
